eriksopera asked: I cannot stand this holiday.

Not as I hoped it would be.
I am exceedingly sorry to hear that, my friend. My holiday was spent beating Darius at chess, so I daresay mine was any more interesting than yours. *pauses* How is your wife, Erik? Does she fare well?
You did not let him win from time to time?
…Christine is fine.
Once or twice. I am a charitable man Erik, I could hardly stand to crush his confidence. Besides, as my only consistent company I must not put myself out of his favor.
Good, I am glad to hear she is ‘fine’. And yourself, Erik? You look tense enough to snap. Madame morphine no longer taking the edge off?
eriksopera asked: I cannot stand this holiday.

eriksopera:
This doesn’t surprise me. I assume you are enduring it though, for Christine’s sake?
I suppose you could put it into such terms…‘enduring.’
Oh? How was your time in the cottage?
I cannot stand this holiday.

therosyhoursofmazandaran:
What do you mean Erik? You came to speak to me, as I recall. I am merely offering you advice to the best of my ability.
*rises* Then you do not wish to speak with me. How could you? You do not agree with my thoughts and feelings on Christine’s…condition. *fixes his cape around his shoulders* Perhaps we are done here.
I said nothing of the sort Erik - you are putting words in my mouth! Of course I wish to speak with you - your health and welfare is a deep concern of mine, whether you wish it so or not. *raises his hands in a gesture of surrender* You are of course free to leave any time you wish. *looks Erik in the eye* My door is always open to you, as it always has been.
eriksopera:
therosyhoursofmazandaran:
*grins* As you always do when you cannot win. *swiftly captures the knight he was sure was about to deal him a rather fatal blow*
Why is it you still speak to me? *ignores the game*

eriksopera:
*crosses his arms over his chest* I grow tired of this game.
*grins* As you always do when you cannot win. *swiftly captures the knight he was sure was about to deal him a rather fatal blow*
eriksopera:
*sits back in his chair and looks away from the board* My bloodline did not start with me. I am sure I did have a mother and a father, they did as well and so forth. Whether wishful or not, you cannot look at me and think nature wishes me to have offspring. *Turns to his friend* It wanted to repulse all that could possible wish to bear my seed; it wanted my blood to end with me.
*sighs* Well, I think current events show that mother nature has not followed through with this plan, ‘natural selection’ or no.
eriksopera:
therosyhoursofmazandaran:
*Begins to move a knight, hesitates, and moves a pawn instead* Oh? What led you to conclude that?
I have read Darwin’s theories recently. *Moves his knight* …why ever would evolution choose me to be able to reproduce?
But Darwin’s theory spread this over thousands of years…how would that render you suddenly incapable of siring an heir? *moves knight out* I believe you were relying on some rather wishful thinking there Erik.
